Cowboy Coffee Recipe

Here is my favorite cowboy coffee recipe that is easy to make and gives you the smoothest cup of joe! Whether you wish to enjoy it at home or planning to make it during your camping adventures, it should be your go-to cowboy coffee recipe.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 tbsp Ground coffee (preferably medium coarse grounds)
  • 1 pinch Salt
  • 8 ounces Water (250ml)
  • 1 Pot and a heat source
  • Strainer (or other straining method)

Instructions
 

  • Depending on what you have available, you can either use a campfire or a stove to bring the water to a rolling boil! Remove the pot from fire and leave it there for 30 seconds. When you let it set for 30 seconds, the temperature drops to 200°F (93°C), which is considered the optimal temperature to brew coffee.
  • Then, after 30 seconds, add 2 tablespoons of ground coffee for every 8 ounces (250ml) of water and stir it well. Add coffee grounds directly to the water without using a filter. Then, let the coffee sit for 2 minutes while it brews. This allows the flavors to develop. Stir it again and then let the coffee sit for 2 more minutes.
  • After the 4 minutes of brewing, sprinkle some cold water on the grounds. Cold water makes them sink to the bottom faster. The trick is to pour the hot coffee really slowly, this ensures that the grounds remain at the bottom of the pot.
