Choose coffee that has been roasted medium to dark rather than light roast coffee for breve. A medium-dark roast coffee cuts through half-n-half a lot better than a light roast. Use an espresso machine to pull the shot(s), adjusting the number based on your preferred strength for the breve.
  • Steam and Froth Half-and-Half: Half-and-half can be bought ready-mixed or you can mix it yourself using equal parts of milk and cream. Next, steam and froth the half-and-half using a steam wand or milk frother. A steam wand is ideal for achieving a silky, smooth texture due to the dry steam it injects.
    Pour 2 ounces (60ml) of half-and-half into a cup and heat it until it reaches approximately 140℉ to 160℉ (60 - 80C). Froth it and let it settle. Hold back the foamed milk with a spoon in the frothing pitcher.
  • Combine Espresso and Half-and-Half: Finally, complete your breve by combining the strong espresso with the rich half-and-half.
